Happy Monday, Kiddies! Hope your weekend and Oscar picks unfolded to your liking. In early May, the Hatch will ascend up to Atlanta, GA for its Shaky Knees Festival and today's Music Video Monday will undoubtedly be a highlight of that weekend. Delta Spirit is a favorite here in the Hatch, which should come as no surprise if you frequent the blog, so today's song should come across as one of those "lying in wait" videos. So allow me to free it of that burden and share it with you. What I find surprising is that the only video for the song comes from the soundtrack to the recently released, Warm Bodies. I didn't care too much for the movie, but that's probably because I'm way too familiar with the tale of Romeo & Juliet and don't think a zombie version should be relevant, but I understand today's kids and their lack of focus, so way-to-go Hollywood (I guess). The song on the other hand, is fantastic and has lived in my head ever since I saw the movie. I was even more thrilled when I discovered I already owned the song, Woo Hoo!
"Yamaha" isn't a fast number by any means, but it is a compelling number by all means. The song sounds like it is sung in a dream-like state which adds to its relevance. I'm not the number one fan of D.S. here in the Hatch (that'd probably be Pat), nor am I the number two (that'd be Tiff), but I'd venture to say that I'm the biggest fan of this song. It's very atmospheric and that's why I dig it so much, and I'm sure you will too. Enjoy the video (let it take the place of watching the whole movie, this video and especially the song provide more than the movie ever could) and have a good week.
Very good song. I'm glad someone created a video for it. The song was the highlight of the movie for me.
